"6 men with analogue synths". 6 men who have reached a level of god like genius.

Im not even going to bother describing them. Ill let these 2 videos do the talking.

yum.

they have 2 albums out already and will be touring the UK in February alongside late of the pier and video nasties.

my-fucking-space

50hertz

Ive heard them describe themselves as "Korvjazz" before, and although i dont really know what that is or what it means, it sounds like a good word to describe their genre. Its a bit ridiculous and bewildering at times, but after having got hold of both of their albums ive found some reaaaal nice tunes.

This is their cover of Bjork's army of me (done for a charity compilation CD a few years ago). It has killer whales in it.

50 hertz - Nigga Please (Electro/8-bit buzzes and bleeps)

50hertz - Fotbolls EM-SM Guld (Like Marmite)

M.Y.S.P.A.C.E

They also sell ridiculously good t-shirts by SMK and 50hertz here: Djur and Mir

Lo-Fi-Fnk

I think a great indicator of good songwriters and musicians is someone who can make a minimalistic song sound really powerful and exciting. Lo-fi-fnk achieve it with interesting and simplistic beats accompanied by seriously chilled out vocals and chirpy little bleeps. It makes the music great for clubs AND for falling asleep on the train to. Genius!

Lo-Fi-Fnk - Change Channel

Lo-Fi-Fnk - City

Myspace

Revl9n

The first time i heard Revl9n was on the Digital Penetration compilation. Their song "Closer" wasnt the best advert for them, but they were recently remixed by Sebastian, and although his remix is yet another stroke of genius, Walking Machine is actually a really good slice of 80s electro-pop, matched with vocals like a punkier Madonna

Listen to Walking Machine at their Myspace

Revl9n - Walking Machine (Sebastian remix)

This is getting way too long, so ill finish up with everyone that ive missed out:
GOTO80 (Chiptune/8-bit/C64 gods), Tor Bruce (ridiculously poppy lo-fi keyboard demos), Fox 'n' Wolf
(Dirty Electro), The Knife, Haxor och Porr

Saam in Far-off-lands

photo : shots.net

You may not know the name but you're bound to have seen his work.

Whizz-kid mega music video producer Saam Farahmand's the man behind epic video productions for the likes of Klaxons, Unkle Jam & Simian Mobile Disco.

He's currently over in New York City working on the Janet Jackson comeback single 'Feedback' from her new album 'Discipline'.

Till we have the pleasure of seeing this mega release here's one of his first and latest releases.

First up is the fantastic Klaxons - Gravity's Rainbow (check the clock time around 5 seconds)...followed by the latest and rather funky These New Puritans video for Elvis.

Klaxons - Gravity's Rainbow

These New Puritans - Elvis

Not so G@sh...

photo : Gash DJ's

The Gash DJ's kept Ibiza's Bar M rocking this summer.

Residents for the fantastic Ibiza Rocks - they warmed up for some top notch bands and DJ's as well as bombarding Pacha's Global room with some serious boom-bastic frequencies.

Visit their Myspace now to listen to their fine remix of Deluka - It's called "Ike and Tina" and it absolutely rocks. When I get the YouSendIt link I'll post it up but for now - go listen and enjoy. It's a really top mix and a taste of things to come. I'm expecting big tings from these boys.

Also worth a listen is Moulinex - suggested by the great Pete Carvell himself - I'm big on this.

The Daft Punk Alive album has re-ignited my burning love for all things French and in between spilling water on my carpet and smoking cigarettes - Mr Carvell was nice enough to introduce me to this guys fine tunage.

Who'll be great in 2008?

We know it's slightly cliche to be 'tipping' people for the top, especially when they're already on their way up and the media machine is in full flow.

So, we tried to be a little different and get two stalwarts of the emerging music scene to give us their tips for 2008. Annie Mac and Nick Grimshaw are top people and host the TV show Sound on BBC 2 and Switch on BBC Radio 1.

Annie's choices :

SANTOGOLD

"She's a cross between punk funk and hip hop. If you like Blondie you'll like it. If you like M.I.A. you'll like it. It's that broad"

KID SISTER

"She's a girl from Chicago who's a rapper. She is amazing. She's just done a track with Kanye West so she's definitely on the up"

BLACK KIDS

"I don't know much about these guys except that they're great"

Nick's choices :

VAMPIRE WEEKEND

"Sound alot like Paul Simon. Lot's of African beats & cool rhythms"

FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE

"She's this skinny little white girl who sings like some big black momma from the 50's. She's got a big voice. She's full of loads of revengeful songs"

KID HARPOON

"He lives down my street which is a bonus - he's like some scruffy Russian punk poet. He's wicked. A good lyricist"

Here's a clip of Florence when she played at Filthy Few in May 2007.

Meaty

photo : me

I'm really surprised no one's really picked up on Mendetz because they're bloody good. Or maybe I'm being ignorant.

Hailing from Barcelona. These self proclaimed 'Casio-Punks' are producing some mighty fine and tasty beats.

My new years resolution is to never again compare one band to another or use phrases such as 'they're going to be the new Arctic Monkeys'. I'm starting early and so I won't do said crime.

All to say is that they know how to use bass, merge electronica with gee-tars and they've got some seriously sick licks. The remixes will bring them to the dance floor.

Here's Future Sex. It's a tune that's on their lighter side, so make sure you pay their Myspace a visit to enjoy some more ear sex.

I Love Shoe.

So...the rather lush Lovefoxx (CSS) got hit by a shoe over the weekend in Brighton - leaving the band to finish the song without her and cutting short their gig at The Dome.

It prompted us to think about other items that get thrown on stage during gigs.

Legendary crooner Tom Jones was famed for having pants thrown at him when performing. Dave Grohl got the same treatment from some chicks at the front of his gig. ..except he got a thong.

Here's Panic At The Disco frontman Brendon Urie getting a bottle of water thrown at him.

And Madonna getting rather mad at people for chucking stuff her way. Keep watching. Later on she tells people her gig "isn't a barbeque".

and perhaps the most impressive of displays - check out the volley of bottles thrown at 50 Cent and The Game when they played Reading Festival. Nothing like a good old fashioned 'Welcome to Britain' to bring these US rap stars down to earth with a bang.

Lastly, girl du jour Kate Nash has lemons thrown at her when knocking out her Radio 2 favourite 'Foundations'.

Not that we'd ask you to sit through 3 minutes of the Nash (rhymes with?) forward to 40 seconds to see the moment in question.

And remember. Zarcorp does not endorse the throwing of items on stage. Don't do it kids. It's bad. Unless of course it's Razorlight.

nothin like a chocolate devil cake...

a few weeks ago i found out something that made my heart leap into my groin with excitement. to calm myself down i lit myself a spliff...and subsquently totally forgot it.

i finally remembered it this morning...

The B-52's have a new album on the horizon (the first in 15/16 years) entitled Funplex and it's due to drop on February 28th. according to Keith... "It’s loud, sexy rock & roll with the beat pumped up to hot pink"

no change there then.

but yeah.
basically it'll be fucking amazing and have diamonds in there as good as this little blinder...

B-52's - Cake

The Teenagers

can do it better.

Electrojuice

is 2 14 year olds, making perfectly produced electro/rock hybrid songs and remixes in a similar style, of all their danish friends. I can hear a lot of great influences in there, and they've got amazing potential. They really know their stuff and i wouldn't be surprised at all if they were the next justice, once they've finished their SATs. Electrojuice have already had a feature in a pretty huge Danish music magazine (see picture), so we won't have to wait long either.

Electrojuice - Cut Your Fingers Off

Late of the Pier - Broken (Electrojuice remix)

MYSPACEE!

Copycats

These 2/3 utterly sexual beings from Manchester have only been around for a portion of a month, but they've already shat out 5 whole songs (most of which were made on a digital 4 track) and been remixed countless times (once or twice). They have a dress sense that can only be described as somewhere between retro and retard, and their pictures are bare genius. Go eat them.

COPYCATS - Bedroom Demon

MYSPAAACCEEE!!!1

Death by Television

My homeboy Harry Hunt of age 16, raised on nothing but punk, got hold of a gameboy and did things to it that its too young to understand. Its a bit like a younger David E Sugar with emphasis on the E. Right now hes got a new addition to the band and is collecting every kids music toy from before tiger electronics died or sony/hasbro lost their imagination. Live sets will be coming in your face soon, book him up for january time?

Late of the Pier cover - a slice of genius, download it

DBTV - Hybrid Moments - yes, its a cover, but its nothing like t'original

MMYSPAAACCe!!"!@

More soon, when my memory returns. Tell me if you want me to do you or want me to do someone else that is a real teenager.

xxx

Go ahead daddy....

Sorry for being greedy...my first post simply didn't satisfy my urge...I had to give you a little something else.

Unforunately LL Cool J doesn't have as good game as he used to.

This was 11 years ago. Scary. I still have it on cassette somewhere.

I Lykke It

photo : me

Who else could say the words 'For you I keep my legs apart' and it not sound slightly slutty?

This cheeky little Scandi.

Stockholm's Lykke Li's setting girls and boys pulses racing. Top song. Top Video.

Reminds me slightly of heaven. Not that I've been or anything - just what I've been told to think heaven looks like.

Like me you'll probably fall in love when you watch this eye candy. Then get all dreamy and watch it again and again and again and again. You get the picture.

She's signed up to the fabulous Moshi Moshi and this song's out soon.
I wouldn't recommend driving or operating heavy machinery while listening to this. You'll get lost in some way shape or form.

In other news - I'm really not a fan of Anthony Worral Thompson. It's not the first thing you want to see on your TV on a Saturday morning.

"Smile. The Liar and The Lens make the best of friends"

Anyway, i salute you all in my first post, one that will be truly fantastic and will certainly not disappoint. It has been a long time coming, but the reason i have been saving my zarcorp virginity for so long is in order to knock out this bucket of ear soup all in your face. (sorry)

Nottin'ham...Chapter 1

Nottingham!!

better known for guns and a guy in green tights... lesser known for music and everything else.
..so here be some musical nuggets from the midlands.

Clarky Cat - Decide
Shit Disco - Reactor Party (Arne Blackman Remix)

Lillica Libertine
19 year old lillica is on his way places. i knew that ages ago and now he's gone and proved it...he's remixed the likes of Does It Offend You, Yeah! & Dead Kids, started a clubnight at Stealth called Fresh Out Of Death & signed to Botchip & Scarper. Not bad eh?
His debut EP is out on the 14th of January via B&S and here's a little taster of the things to come...

Something Old & Something New

photo: funforever

Couldn't really find anything borrowed or blue so lets just stick with old and new eh?
i've not been able to stop playing these songs... so i figured why not share em.

the chorus to This Corrosion has lodged itself somewhere inbetween my ear and my brain for a week or two now and refuses to move.
all together now.. 'Hey Now Hey Now Now'
yeah. tune.

and ok so Dinamo's not quite new (released in '05 i think) but this simple little vocal edit by Sweet Fred's got me going all over again.

Old : Sisters Of Mercy - This Corrosion

New : Nathan Fake - Dinamo (andre breton sweet fred edit)

sometimes you come across a band that makes your head go fuzzy.
you go mad with excitement, watch them at every possible moment and freak out telling all your mates about how they're going to take over the world..
..and then they split up.

two bands are guilty of such a crime in the past 10 years...Clor & Jarcrew.
and having just signed to Parlaphone Records (clor's label) i've managed to 'happen across' a bunch of unreleased Clors demos from their unfinished second album and a couple of lovely remixes i'd never heard...oh how the love comes flooding back.
not only that but a hero at parlaphone gave me his Jarcrew t-shirt. admitably its way too big for me but still...best thing i've ever been given.

anyway..ere's a little clor remix from the b-side to Good Stuff.
more clor to come. lots more.

And So It Begins...

photo : missinateacup

"It will be the story about a miracle worker who is living in our time and who doesn't work any miracles. He knows that he is a miracle worker and that he can perform any miracle, but he doesn't do so.He is thrown out of his flat and he knows that he only has to wave a finger and the flat will remain his, but he doesn't do this; he submissively moves out of the flat and lives out of town in a shed.He is capable of turning this shed into a fine brick house, but he doesn't do this;he carries on living in the shed and eventually dies, without having done a single miracle in the whole of his life." - Kharms

Ah Mondays...
lucky for you lot i saved a little bit of my sunday sunshine to help float you through the day.
